Chamber Events 2013 (tentative schedule)

Summertime Bluesfest: The Gladstone Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Gladstone are excited about this year's Bluesfest, a festival of fun, food and great blues music. Bluesfest is held in June at Oak Grove Park, located at 76th & N. Troost. This festival is enjoyed by blues fans, not just from our community, but also by fans from around the country.

Gladstone Bluesfest 2005Our festival continues to grow and attract crowds of over 15,000 each year. The event is free to everyone! There is a charge for parking on the grounds and for the great food and beverages that are available.

Gladfest Fall Festival: Voted the "Best Annual Fair/Festival in the Northland", this major Northland event has drawn crowds in the tens of thousands, and brings with it enormous publicity for Gladstone, as well as all the businesses involved in making it happen.

The Center Stage provides exciting entertainment all weekend. Many local music and dance organizations have an opportunity to perform. You will not want to miss the live performances on Friday and Saturday evenings. A large carnival is in full operation all weekend. See the model train exhibit while you are here.

Support your community by visiting the many commercial booths and craft booths which will be open all weekend!
The Gladfest Parade is Saturday morning, featuring this year's Parade Marshal and other dignitaries, plus a lot of great floats, fun vehicles, bands, and more.

Additional events are being planned, but you can always count on lots of great food, beverages and music!

Friday Fright Night: Halloween Fun, sponsored by the Gladstone Parks & Recreation Department, and the Gladstone Area Chamber of Commerce.

Designed to provide a safe trick or treat option, with entertainment and story telling, the event is held in Oak Grove Park at 76th & Troost on the Friday evening before Halloween. Chamber members are given the opportunity to promote their businesses through their generosity to the children of the Gladstone area.

Bluesfest

Gladstone BluesfestThis Chamber and City sponsored event is rockin' toward its 17th year of fun and great music! Bluesfest will be held June 7 - 8, 2013 Oak Grove Park, located at 76th & N. Troost.  (see map.

This festival is enjoyed by blues fans not just from our community, but from surrounding cities, counties, and states!

As our festival continues to grow and attract crowds of over 15,000 each year we look forward to seeing you year after year! This event is free to everyone! Parking is only $5.

Come and enjoy the tasty food such as the locally famous "Saucy Buns", BBQ brisket sandwiches, kettle corn and much much more!!! See you at Oak Grove Park!

Gladfest Car Show Gladfest Dog Show

Gladfest is a wonderful fall festival with something for everyone! Don't miss the Parade on Saturday morning as well as daily entertainment from Center Stage! A Carnival will be open all three days for kids of all ages. The Carnival will offer an "All You Can Ride" wristband special on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Marketplace Tents will be located south of City Hall and will offer valuable contacts with local businesses and civic organizations. Larger commercial vendors and the best in food and beverages will be found along 70th Street and N. Holmes.

Fright Night

Don't miss the Halloween fun at "Friday Fright Night," presented by the Gladstone Parks and Recreation Department, River & Prairie Storyweavers and the Gladstone Area Chamber of Commerce. This safe Halloween event takes place at the Gladstone Amphitheatre in Oak Grove Park.

This event is for all ages with festivities that include "ghost story" telling and of course -trick or treating. There will be scary stories for older children and the young at heart.

When: Friday, October 25, 2013
Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for 3 to 8 year olds
8 p.m. to 10 p.m. for 9 year olds to Adults
Where: Gladstone Amphitheatre, Oak Grove Park

To make this event a big success for our Gladstone families the Chamber needs your help. Members are needed to set up trick or treat booths and help provide prizes for the contests. Make this a promotional event for your business - wear your company shirt, bring lots of candy and plan to join in on all the fun. If you can not participate with prizes please come out and provide a helping hand. We always need volunteers to keep a helpful eye out to make this a successful and safe event.

The Chamber was incorporated in 1966 and continues to serve the community today, in a variety of ways. These include co-sponsoring community festivals with the City of Gladstone, partnering with area schools and school districts, as well as sponsoring a variety of events designed to bring the business community together for building relationships. As we grow through our fourth decade as an organization, we have the opportunity to build on the past and create an even more exciting and lucrative future for us all!

Our Committees

Ambassador Committee: This committee serves as the marketing arm of the GACC by encouraging involvement in monthly events and developing value-added services and benefits.  Ambassadors are members who volunteer to serve as the face of the Chamber as they greet, direct and sign in guests at GACC events.  Ambassadors assist the Director of Membership Services in following up with new members and encouraging area businesses to join the GACC.

Bluesfest Committee: This committee plans and executes our June blues music festival, Gladstone Summertime Bluesfest, ensuring the best in blues, barbecue and beverages, served in Oak Grove Park.

Education Committee:  This committee partners with local public and private schools to promote workforce development.  This committee also oversees the application process and selection of the annual GACC scholarships.  They also organize the "Welcome to the Community" bag for new teachers.

Gladfest Committee: This committee plans and executes a major fall festival, Gladfest, which has been voted the "Best Annual Fair/Festival in the Northland."  Gladfest offers traditional fall family fun including a parade, a carnival, live entertainment, lots of food booths, craft and commercial booths, a classic car and truck show, and a lot more!

Gladfest Golf Committee: This committee plans and executes the Gladfest Golf Tournament which is scheduled for the Thursday prior to the start of Gladfest.

What we Do for You

Gladstone Area Chamber of Commerce members use fellow Chamber members for goods and services and they work together to make this community a safer and more prosperous place to live, work and conduct business. In addition the Chamber will:
 

  • Respond to inquiries with referrals for member businesses
  • Provide business and residential relocation information
  • Showcase Member brochures and pamphlets in the Chamber office
  • Offer FREE Ribbon Cutting ceremonies to Chamber businesses
  • Email advertising to the membership for a nominal fee

Each August the GACC Education Committee provides welcome bags to new teachers in the Northland. These welcome bags are full of gift certificates and supplies donated from Chamber members, which has been an excellent marketing opportunity.

Each Spring the Education Committee awards scholarships to area high school seniors

The Ambassador Committee serves as the public relations liaison to the Chamber by encouraging involvement in monthly events and developing value-added services and benefits.

About Gladstone, MissouriGladstone is located within Clay County, Missouri, in the heart of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, directly north of downtown Kansas City, but north of the Missouri River.
